Practise your interview before the real one.

Paste the job description. Practise out loud. Improve your answers before the real interview.

Dawnstep is a practice tool for job seekers preparing for interviews in English. Store links will appear here when the app is released.

How it works

  1. Paste the job description

Add the job description and, if you like, a short note about your experience. The app writes a short summary of the role. You check it, edit it and confirm it before anything else happens.

  2. Practise out loud

Answer 5 questions, with up to 2 follow-ups in a session. Speak your answer, or type it if you prefer. Read the written transcript and fix any mistakes before you submit.

  3. Get feedback, then try again

Feedback points to your own words and to what was missing. You can retry each of the 5 main questions once.

What the feedback looks like

This is an invented sample that shows the format. It is not a real person's answer and not a real result.

SAMPLE — not a real result

Question

Tell me about a time you helped an unhappy customer.

Sample answer

“The customer received the wrong item. We sorted it out.”

Sample feedback

What worked. You named the problem clearly. Evidence from the answer: “The customer received the wrong item.”

To improve: specificity. The answer does not say what you personally did. Evidence: “We sorted it out.” Try: describe the steps you took, in order, using only things that really happened.

To improve: result. Missing: what happened afterwards, such as how the customer reacted or what changed.

Levels (descriptive words, not scores):

  • Relevance: clear
  • Specificity: needs more detail
  • Structure: developing
  • Clarity: clear

Suggested outline. The situation, what needed to be done, what you did, what happened.

Limits. This feedback is based only on the words in the answer. It cannot know what really happened, and it may be wrong.

What it is, and what it is not

Accents are not scored

The app does not score, rate or comment on your accent or how you sound. Feedback is about what your answer says: how relevant, specific, structured and clear it is.

After a spoken answer it also shows plain numbers: word count, recording length, pace in words per minute and a count of filler sounds. They are worked out from the text and the recording length only. They are not a judgement of your voice.

Speech-to-text can make more mistakes with some accents or in noisy rooms. That is why you can correct the transcript before feedback is written.

A practice tool, not a hiring predictor

It cannot tell you whether you will get the job. It does not predict hiring outcomes, rate your employability, or share anything with employers.

Feedback is written by AI and can be wrong. Use your own judgement.

Your data

Before the app sends your content to outside AI services, it asks for your permission. The services are named in the privacy policy. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your results with employers. You can delete your account at any time: see how to delete your account.

Packs

Each new account includes one free session. After that you can buy a consumable practice pack. There is no subscription. The app store shows the price in your local currency. See practice packs.

Who it is for

Adults preparing for interviews in English. English only at launch, with Canada and the United States as the first focus. Questions are written by AI from the role summary you confirm. They have been tested so far with customer service, retail, hospitality, admin and general roles.
