Common questions
How do I sign in?
Enter your email address and tick the box saying you are 18 or older and agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy. We email you a one-time code. Enter the code in the app. There is no password.
My sign-in code did not arrive
Check your spam folder and that the address is spelled correctly, then ask for a new code. Codes expire after a short time (15 minutes). If it still does not arrive, contact us.
The transcript got my words wrong
Speech-to-text can make mistakes, especially in noisy places or with unfamiliar words. You can correct the transcript before you submit it for feedback. Once feedback has been written for an answer, that transcript is locked. You can also type your answer instead.
The feedback seems wrong or unfair
Feedback is written by AI and can be wrong. Treat it as a prompt, not a verdict. If it looks incorrect, or mentions your accent, voice or your chances of being hired (it should not), tap Report a problem with this under the feedback or on the session summary in the app, or email us with the question and what looked wrong.
Does the app score my accent?
No. The app does not score, rate or comment on your accent. Feedback is about what your answer says.
Will employers see my answers?
No. We do not share your answers, recordings or results with employers or recruiters. The app is a practice tool, not a hiring tool.
Is my data used to train AI?
We do not use your practice content to train AI models. The AI providers we use have their own terms; the privacy policy says what they keep and for how long.
My purchase is not showing, or I have a new phone
Credits belong to your account, not your device. Sign in with the same email address as before and your balance should appear. On the Practice pack screen, tap Refresh my balance. If a purchase is still missing, email us the store's order or transaction ID (not your card details).
How do I get a refund?
Refunds for purchases are handled by the app store (Apple or Google), not by us. Contact the store about the purchase. See practice packs.
The app says I have reached today's practice limit
You can make up to 6 attempts to start a session in any rolling 24 hours. Attempts that failed to prepare, and sessions you deleted, still count. Try again later; reaching the limit does not use up a practice credit.
How do I get a copy of my data?
In the app, open the Settings tab and choose Download my data. You get a text file with your job details, answers and transcripts, feedback, credits and purchases. It does not include recordings, which are deleted about 24 hours after they are turned into text. If you cannot get into the app, write to support@dawnstep.app from the email address of your account and we will send you the same file after checking that it is you.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, open the Settings tab and choose Delete my account…. To delete just one practice session, open the Sessions tab and choose Delete session. If you cannot get into the app, you can ask us to delete the account. See how to delete your account. Remaining practice credits are lost when you delete.
How do I withdraw permission for AI processing?
Open the Settings tab and choose Withdraw permission. This stops future processing of your content by our AI providers, so practice sessions stop working until you give permission again. It does not delete what is already saved; delete the session or your account for that.
Can I use the app during a real interview?
Please do not. It is made for preparation only, and using tools during a live interview may break the employer's rules.
Which languages and countries are supported?
English only at launch. Canada and the United States are the first focus. Availability in each country is shown in the app store listing.
Is the app accessible?
We aim to make it usable with screen readers and larger text. Accessibility testing has not been completed yet. If you find something you cannot use, tell us.
